🧪 How Quin’s Mask Works

Quin’s Mask is a thorns-only trigger: whenever your Thorns damage hits an enemy, the hit rolls a 50% chance to create an explosion. The mask does not add thorns by itself, so you’ll want items/tomes that increase Thorns or convert Armor into Thorns.

Aegis weapon icon — Aegis is required for the unlock and sits naturally within the thorns/reflect ecosystem.

Note: Quin’s Mask scales indirectly via your Thorns sources. For example, items that convert Armor → Thorns make explosions more frequent by creating more thorns hits; the mask itself does not multiply armor values.

🔓 How to Unlock Quin’s Mask

Requirement

As Athena, land the killing blow on a Stage Boss using Aegis.

Start a run with Athena and equip/obtain Aegis.
On a Stage Boss, time your Aegis damage to secure the final hit.
Once the boss dies to Aegis, Quin’s Mask is permanently added to your item pool.

Patch context: Thorns/Athena tuning has appeared across patches (e.g., v1.0.7 balancing); we have not found a patch note directly altering Quin’s Mask’s effect itself as of v1.0.17.
