Need unlock or character-mechanic details? See the Megachad Guide for the passive and starting weapon.
Aura constantly deals damage around you. Pair with Aegis for on-hit shielding and shockwaves; add Lightning Staff to thin mobs before they reach you.
Mirror gives brief invulnerability on damage; Campfire heals while standing still; Chonkplate enables Overheal and lifesteal; Spiky Shield converts Armor into Thorns.
Each Flex permanently adds +2.5% Damage. With Kevin or Leeching Crystal triggering Flex correctly, prioritize Cooldown/Size and survival to capitalize on passive damage; add Damage Tome before the trigger engine is reliable.

Accurate mechanics, unlocks, and why they work together
Megachad’s signature area damage
Aura deals continuous damage around you. It benefits most from Damage, Cooldown (attack speed), and Size. Unlock condition for Aura in general is “take no damage for 2 minutes,” and Megachad starts with it by default. Use it as the anchor for semi-AFK play.
Blocks hits & sends shockwaves
Aegis is a weapon (not an item). It blocks incoming attacks and emits shockwaves, adding control and safety when you plant your feet. Unlock hint commonly cited: block cumulative damage as Sir Oofie. Great alongside Aura for an AFK-friendly frontline.
Default unlocked; chains lightning
Reliable chain lightning that thins groups before they touch you. Level it to 15 to unlock Wireless Dagger. Works well with Quantity/Cooldown for more procs.
Damage • Cooldown • Size • XP • Luck • Cursed
Use Damage/Cooldown/Size to scale Aura directly. XP speeds level gain; Luck raises roll quality; Cursed/Difficulty increases enemy density (indirect XP) but raises risk and is debated—opt in if you want faster scaling.
Mirror • Campfire • Medkit • Spiky Shield • Idle Juice • Sucky Magnet
Kevin and Leeching Crystal can trigger Flex, permanently adding +2.5% Damage each time; Mirror separately provides short invulnerability on hit; Campfire heals while standing still; Medkit adds HP regen; Spiky Shield converts Armor to Thorns and gives +10% Armor; Idle Juice adds up to +100% damage while stationary; Sucky Magnet periodically pulls all XP to you—great for AFK loops.
Kevin is both offense and defense: its self-hit can trigger Flex for permanent +2.5% Damage and can trigger Mirror i-frames. Leeching Crystal also triggers Flex after the current fix. Neither interaction duplicates Aura or other weapons.
Extra gold when taking damage
Golden Shield gives extra gold on taking damage—useful for money farming—but it does not provide shield value or boost Aura damage.
Overheal up to ~75% + Lifesteal
Chonkplate lets healing exceed Max HP (Overheal up to ~75%) and grants Lifesteal—excellent for long stands. Combine with Campfire/Medkit or Lifesteal sources for near-immortal loops.
Practical minute-by-minute goals without relying on false mechanics
Secure Aura upgrades early. Pick Damage or Cooldown when offered. XP/Luck help snowball if you’re comfortable; otherwise take survivability. If available, grab Campfire or Medkit.
Add Aegis (frontline control) or Lightning Staff (ranged chains). Consider Idle Juice to double damage while stationary. Look for Mirror as your premier defensive item.
Stack Size and more Cooldown to expand Aura coverage and uptime. Add Spiky Shield if you’re already building Armor. Consider Sucky Magnet for convenient XP collection.
Round out sustain with Chonkplate. If using Lightning Staff, aim for Lv.15 for the Wireless Dagger unlock while keeping the run safe.
Swap weaker items for best-in-slot defensive tools (Mirror, Campfire, Spiky Shield). Continue feeding Damage/Cooldown/Size to Aura for faster boss phases.
Gigachad, Chad, and Mega Chad searches all refer to Megachad. Use this page as the single current Build source.
Start with Aura coverage and Aegis protection. Add Size and Cooldown, then use Campfire, Medkit, or Idle Juice when the run supports holding position.
Each Flex permanently grants +2.5% Damage. Kevin and Leeching Crystal can trigger Flex, so frequent triggers make Cooldown, Size, and survival more valuable than blindly stacking Damage.
Keep Aura as the anchor, add a reliable single-target or ranged option, and move during boss telegraphs. “AFK” describes the farming loop, not a promise that every boss can be ignored.
Good swaps when RNG refuses to cooperate
| Category | Primary Choice | Alternatives |
|---|---|---|
| Core Weapon | Aura (mandatory) | — |
| Defensive Weapon | Aegis | Sword / Hero Sword, Axe |
| Ranged Control | Lightning Staff | Firestaff, Tornado |
| AFK Enabler | Campfire | Medkit, Idle Juice |
| Defense/Utility | Mirror | Phantom Shroud, Gas Mask (poison builds) |
| Armor/Thorns | Spiky Shield | Cactus (on-hit spikes) |
| Economy | Golden Shield (gold on hit) | Golden Sneakers (gold from moving) |
| Utility | Backpack (+1 projectile) | Battery (attack speed), Sucky Magnet (XP vacuum) |
| Lucky Rolls | Clover (+Luck) | Green Credit Card (+Luck when opening chests) |
Aura damage does not directly scale from shield value. Focus on Damage/Cooldown/Size for DPS; take Shield for survivability only.
Kevin can trigger Flex for permanent +2.5% Damage, while Mirror supplies the defensive i-frame. Leeching Crystal can also trigger Flex.
Aegis is a weapon that blocks and shocks; slot and scale it like other weapons.
Golden Shield gives extra gold when taking damage—economy, not protection.
Aura as the core, with Aegis for front-line safety and Lightning Staff to handle swarms at range.
When Flex triggers are scarce, use Damage, Cooldown, and Size. With Kevin or Leeching Crystal online, move Cooldown/Size ahead because Flex already supplies permanent Damage. Take XP/Luck to snowball, and add Cursed/Difficulty only if you’re comfortable with the increased pressure.
“Semi-AFK” is consistent with Mirror + sustain (Campfire/Medkit) and good Armor/Thorns (Spiky Shield). The Kevin + Mirror combo can chain i-frames on hit, but positioning and pickups still matter.
Aura’s general unlock is “2 minutes no damage”; Lightning Staff is default-unlocked and hitting Lv.15 unlocks Wireless Dagger; Aegis is a weapon unlocked by blocking cumulative damage as Sir Oofie (community-documented).
