No, Robinette does not keep Gold between runs. Gold lasts for the active run; permanent Silver is separate and does not power Stonks.
The Economy Master - Wealth Through Strategy
No, not between runs. Robinette keeps Gold only while the current run is active. Stonks reads the Gold currently in your inventory, so spending Gold immediately lowers the damage bonus. A stage or Boss Portal transition that continues the same run keeps that run's wallet, but starting a new run resets Gold.
Silver is different: it is permanent account currency awarded after a run and remains available for unlock purchases. Silver does not increase Robinette's Stonks damage.

+5% Gold Gain - NEW!
Robinette has no separate permanent wallet. Her passive uses the same run-only Gold shown during play, while Silver belongs to account progression.
| Currency or event | What is retained? | Effect on Robinette |
|---|---|---|
| Gold during the current run | Kept until spent or until the run ends. | Current Gold directly controls the Stonks damage bonus. |
| Boss Portal / next stage in the same run | Your active run state and Gold continue with the run. | Stonks continues reading the carried wallet; there is no separate cash-out step. |
| Buying a chest, item or shop offer | The purchase cost is removed immediately. | Because held Gold falls, the Stonks damage bonus falls with it. |
| Run ends or a new run starts | Gold does not carry into the new attempt. | Robinette starts building the Stonks wallet again from the new run's Gold. |
| Silver after the run | Silver is retained on the account for permanent unlocks. | Silver is not counted by Stonks and cannot replace held Gold. |
Robinette's unique passive ability provides two powerful effects that work together to create exponential scaling:
Goal: Stack gold generation, then leverage massive damage from held gold
Focus entirely on gold generation for the first 10-15 minutes. Buy every gold item you see. Once you have 3-4 gold items generating 200+ gold per minute, STOP SPENDING. Your damage will scale automatically from accumulated wealth. By 20+ minutes with 20,000+ gold, you'll have massive damage without needing traditional combat items.
Goal: Balance gold generation with direct combat scaling
Don't go all-in on economy. Pick 1-2 gold items early for the Stonks scaling boost, then focus on traditional damage items. Use your gold advantage to buy weapons and combat items that other characters can't afford. This build is more forgiving and less dependent on perfect gold management.
Goal: Maximize shop interactions to find perfect items
Prioritize reaching shops and treasure chests. Save gold specifically for important purchases. With high luck, shops will offer better items on average. Use Anvil to reroll bad options. This strategy finds the best possible item combinations but requires patience and strategic planning.
Goal: Survive early waves and establish economy base
Goal: Build gold engine and start scaling
Goal: Leverage wealth for dominance
Goal: Become unstoppable
Ask yourself these questions:
Example: Item costs 3,000 gold (= -30% damage). Does it give +30% value? If yes, buy. If no, skip.
Select Forest from the biome menu. This is one of the starting biomes available to all players.
Successfully beat Forest Tier 1 to unlock Tier 2 access. Practice fundamentals here before attempting higher difficulties.
Beat Forest Tier 2 to unlock Robinette for purchase. This tier has significantly tougher enemies.
After completing Tier 2, go to the Unlocks menu and purchase Robinette using Silver earned from runs. The character and Bow weapon unlock together.
No. Gold belongs to the active run and resets before a new run. Robinette's passive does not create permanent Gold storage.
Yes, when the Boss Portal continues the same run. The current wallet remains part of that run, so Stonks continues to scale from the Gold you carry through the portal.
No. Silver is permanent unlock currency saved to the account after a run. Stonks uses only the Gold currently held inside the active run.
Robinette is legitimately S-tier. According to MegaBonk's developer, 8 of the top 10 world record performances use Robinette. The character's dual scaling (gold generation + damage from held gold) creates uniquely powerful exponential growth. However, the developer has considered nerfs due to Robinette's dominance.
Optimal is 2-4 gold generation items. 2 is minimum for economy advantage, 3-4 is the sweet spot for wealth without overkill. 5+ gold items generates more wealth than you can efficiently spend, and you'd be better served buying combat items instead.
Both! Early game (0-10 min), spend freely to build economy and survival. Mid game (10-20 min), be selective and start accumulating. Late game (20+ min), hoard wealth - your damage comes from held gold. Only spend on S-tier items or critical survival needs.
Priority: Piggy Bank > Greed > Any Gold Item > Strong Weapon > Survival Items. Get your economy engine started first, then add damage/survival as needed.
Yes! The +10% damage per 1,000 gold applies to all damage sources - weapons, abilities, and even item effects. It's a universal damage multiplier based on your wealth.
Your Stonks damage bonus decreases! Every 1,000 gold you spend reduces your damage by 10%. This is why late-game gold management is critical. Only spend on truly valuable items.
Yes! The economy strategy works everywhere. However, biomes with more shops and treasure chests (Desert, Factory) give slight advantages. Forest is also excellent. The character's power comes from the Stonks passive, not just shops.
Absolutely! Robinette is excellent for most achievements. The character excels at "Collect X Items" challenges (buy everything), "Complete Long Runs" (scales forever), and "High Damage" challenges (Stonks scaling). Speed challenges are slightly harder since economy builds take time to scale.
The developer noted that Robinette dominates leaderboards with 8/10 top performances. The character's dual scaling (gold generation AND damage) plus exponential growth in long runs makes it statistically too strong. However, the developer also said "I don't really wanna nerf her because it's fun af" so nerfs may never happen.
No known cap! You can accumulate 50,000+ gold in very long runs, giving +500% damage (6x multiplier). Combined with gold generation bonuses that also scale with levels, Robinette has theoretically infinite scaling potential.
Top players focus on maximum gold generation early (4 gold items by 15 minutes), then never spend gold after reaching 15,000-20,000. They leverage the massive damage bonus to survive indefinitely, only buying critical items that significantly improve survivability. The goal is to scale damage to 400-500% (40,000-50,000 gold) while maintaining perfect survival items.
