Third-party tool safety

Megabonk Cheats, Trainers and WeMod: What to Know

Understand what these tools change, why leaderboard runs are different from private experiments, and how to protect your PC and save before making a decision.

No downloads, cheat files or activation instructions are hosted here.

Quick Answer

Megabonk has no official cheat menu. WeMod currently lists a third-party Windows trainer for the Steam version, while cheat tables normally rely on a separate memory editor. Both can change live gameplay or progression.

Do not use modified runs for official leaderboard submissions. Megabonk's developer has fixed leaderboard exploits and established a global list that prevents known cheaters from appearing in rankings. This page does not test, endorse or distribute any trainer or table.

Single-Player Does Not Make Every Score Fair

Private, disposable testing

A local experiment does not affect another player directly, but it can still change the save, achievements, Steam Cloud state or files on the PC.

Leaderboard submission

A run produced with invulnerability, stat edits, timer changes, item spawning or other gameplay manipulation is not comparable with vanilla scores. Keep it off official and community rankings.

Official enforcement: the v1.0.12 update fixed leaderboard exploits and states that known cheaters are globally excluded from leaderboard display. Do not assume using a tool offline erases later effects stored in the save.

Check These Before Running Any Download

Minimum safety checklist

  • Confirm the original publisher page and exact download domain.
  • Check the file type, digital signature, release date and supported game version.
  • Scan the file with updated Windows Security; treat reputation warnings as a reason to stop and investigate.
  • Keep SmartScreen and potentially unwanted app blocking enabled.
  • Use a standard Windows account and deny unrelated administrator requests.

Stop on these red flags

  • A mirror asks for a Steam password, session cookie or two-factor code.
  • Instructions require disabling antivirus globally or adding broad exclusions.
  • The archive is password-protected only to avoid scanning.
  • An installer bundles download managers, ads, crypto miners or unrelated programs.
  • The author, changelog, supported version or uninstall method cannot be identified.

A clean scan is not a guarantee. Security tools reduce risk but cannot prove that third-party code behaves safely in every situation. Never upload personal save files or private documents to public scanning services.

Protect the Save Before Any Experiment

  1. Close Megabonk and wait for Steam Cloud.
Do not copy files while the game or sync client is writing.
  2. Copy the complete save root.
On Windows, back up %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Ved\Megabonk, including the account folder below Saves\CloudDir.
  3. Keep the original outside the live folder.
Use a dated archive on another location and label it with the game version.
  4. Separate modified and vanilla play.
Do not open the only valuable save during testing, and never submit a modified run to a leaderboard.

For Steam Deck paths, multiple Steam accounts and Cloud conflicts, follow the complete save file backup guide.

If You Already Ran a Trainer

  1. Stop the game and tool.
Disconnecting is not enough; close both processes before changing files.
  2. Remove it normally.
Use the publisher's documented uninstall method. Do not delete random game or Windows folders.
  3. Run security scans.
Update Windows Security, run a full scan, and investigate every detection instead of creating an exclusion.
  4. Verify Megabonk in Steam.
Library → Megabonk → Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files.
  5. Inspect progression before restoring.
If values or unlocks changed, preserve the current copy, control Cloud sync, then restore a known-good backup. Verification repairs installed game files, not save progression.

Megabonk Cheats and Trainers FAQ

Does Megabonk have official cheats?

No official cheat menu is provided. Trainers, WeMod options and cheat tables are third-party tools.

Does WeMod support Megabonk?

WeMod currently lists a Windows trainer for the Steam version. Its existence does not make the tool official, endorsed or safe for leaderboard runs.

Can I be removed from the leaderboard?

The developer has stated that known cheaters are placed on a global list and do not appear on leaderboards. Any gameplay-changing tool should therefore be kept away from ranked submissions.

Are cheat tables safer because they are not EXE files?

Not automatically. A table can contain scripts and requires a memory-editing application with access to the running game. Source, contents and version compatibility still matter.

Will Steam file verification remove a trainer?

It checks the installed game files. It may repair changed or missing game files, but it does not uninstall every external application and does not roll back a changed save.

Is Steam Cloud a backup?

It is synchronization, not dependable version history. A modified or damaged save can sync. Keep a dated manual copy.
