Damage boosts
Temporary offensive spikes, not permanent Damage upgrades.
Pickup rules and multiplier math
Know what a powerup is, how the two powerup stats differ, and which pickups are safe during the Hero Sword challenge.
Items are not powerups: they are separate categories.Powerups are temporary in-run pickups, not Items. Items, Shrines, weapon or Tome level-up choices and XP are separate systems. Powerup Multiplier scales an applicable effect value; Powerup Drop Chance scales the relevant drop roll.
| Run reward | Powerup? | Hero Sword run |
|---|---|---|
| Temporary floor powerup | Yes | Do not collect. |
| Inventory Item | No | Still forbidden by the separate no-items rule. |
| Shrine reward | No | Still forbidden by the no-Shrines rule. |
| Weapon or Tome level | No | Allowed. |
| XP pickup | No | Allowed. |
| Chest reward | No | Avoid it because accepting an Item fails the run. |
Fast rule: a short-lived effect collected from the floor is a powerup. Inventory rewards, Shrines and level-up selections keep their own category.
The presentation may change by version, but temporary pickups fall into useful effect groups.
Temporary offensive spikes, not permanent Damage upgrades.
Short movement bursts, separate from Movement Speed stats.
Temporary protection or invulnerability, not persistent Shield.
A floor recovery pickup resolves when collected.
Short-lived utility delivered through the pickup system.
Clover, Gym Sauce, Tomes and Shrine rewards are not powerups.
The stat is an x-value. A 10% increase from 1.00x produces 1.10x.
Modified value = base powerup value x Powerup Multiplier10 seconds x 1.10 = 11 seconds.
20 units x 1.25 = 25 units. The UI may round.
Boundary: do not apply this formula to Items, Tomes, Shrine rewards or character passives.
Effective chance = source base chance x Powerup Drop ChanceWith a hypothetical 5% base chance, 1.20x produces 6%, not 25%. The 5% only demonstrates the math; it is not a claimed universal base rate.
Do not assume this stat also raises chest frequency, Item rarity or Luck unless a current effect explicitly links them.
The objective separately forbids Items, powerups and Shrines.
Use the Hero Sword unlock guide for the complete build and run plan.
