Bob's Light Item Guide

Epic Item

Quick answer: Bob's Light is an Epic item that releases a light explosion every 45 seconds. It kills nearby non-boss enemies; bosses take 4% Max HP damage instead. Unlock it by making lamp-charging damage deal the finishing blow to Big Bob on Graveyard.

How to Unlock Bob's Light

  1. Reach Big Bob on Graveyard. Complete the four-key Crypt route and enter the boss arena.
  2. Fight normally at first. The current requirement does not demand lamp-only damage for the entire fight.
  3. Stop uncontrolled damage near the end. When Big Bob is low, move away, stop firing toward him, and avoid damage-triggering items.
  4. Charge a lamp and let its damage finish Big Bob. The lamp damage must deliver the killing blow.
  5. Claim the unlock. Check the Unlocks menu after the run and purchase it there if the game presents a Silver purchase step.
Current rule: only the finishing blow needs to come from lamp-charging damage. Older guides that require every point of boss damage to come from lamps are outdated.

How Bob's Light Works

TargetPulse resultImportant limit
Normal and Elite enemiesKilled when inside the pulse radiusMust be within range when the pulse fires.
Bosses4% of Max HP as damageNo instant boss kill.
Red Ghosts33% chance to be instantly killedIf the instant kill fails, the pulse deals 4% Max HP damage.

The pulse is centered on your character. It does not require a weapon hit and is most valuable once enemy density becomes high enough that ordinary weapons struggle to clear the screen.

Cooldown and Radius Stacking

Build meaning: one copy is a periodic safety valve; repeated copies transform it into a frequent screen-clear tool. The value rises sharply in long leaderboard-style runs.

Why the Bob's Light Unlock Did Not Register

A weapon got the last hit

Stop attacking earlier and face manual-aimed projectiles away from Big Bob.

You stood near the lamp but did not charge it

Confirm the lamp is active and that its damage is visibly ticking before waiting for the finishing blow.

Best Uses and Build Fit

Excellent for

  • Long survival and leaderboard runs
  • High-density Final Swarm control
  • Builds that can stack Epic items consistently

Less important for

  • Short unlock runs that end before density scales
  • Builds that already erase the full screen on a short cooldown
  • Runs where another Epic stack is the central win condition
