Quick Answer
Select Pacifist in Forest Tier 1, then kill every boss without weapons. The challenge disables weapons automatically. Damage from character passives, Tomes and Items still counts, so the easiest plan is Amog with a poison Item engine or Sir Oofie with Thorns and heavy defense.
Exact Pacifist Rules
| Setting | Current rule | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Map / tier | Forest Tier 1 | Activate the challenge before starting the run. |
| Restriction | No weapons allowed | Your weapon slots are disabled; this is not a zero-damage run. |
| Objective | Kill all bosses | The run is complete only after every required boss is defeated. |
| Run bonus | 2x Silver Gain | The temporary challenge multiplier applies while the challenge is active. |
| Completion bonus | +1% Silver Gain | Completing a challenge adds the standard permanent bonus. |
Challenge runs are excluded from leaderboards. Use this run to secure the completion, not to chase a leaderboard score.
What Damage Is Allowed?
| Source | Allowed? | Examples / notes |
|---|---|---|
| Weapons | No | Aura, Aegis, Lightning Staff and all other weapons are disabled. |
| Character passives | Yes | Amog's Plague can spread poison after a poisoned enemy dies. |
| Damaging Tomes | Yes | Thorns Tome retaliates when an enemy hits you. |
| Damaging Items | Yes | Contact, retaliation, periodic and on-death Item effects can supply damage. |
| Defensive / utility Tomes | Yes | Armor, Shield, Regen and Attraction keep the damage engine working. |
Amog still needs a way to poison or kill the first targets before Plague can chain. A passive that improves damage does not replace the initial damage source.
Best Characters for Pacifist
1. Amog — Best Offensive Pick
Amog's Plague makes poisoned enemies explode on death and spread poison. Once a poison Item starts the chain, packs clear much faster than with pure retaliation.
Tradeoff: weak before the first useful poison or damage Item appears.
2. Sir Oofie — Safest Pick
Sir Oofie gains Armor every level, making a Thorns-based run more forgiving. Stack sustain and let contact damage feed retaliation.
Tradeoff: bosses can take longer without a strong Item damage engine.
Best Pacifist Build
Damage engine — take at least one early
Cursed Doll, Electric Plug, Bob (Dead), Slurp Gloves, Toxic Barrel, Moldy Cheese, Moldy Gloves, Ghost and Spiky Shield can contribute without occupying a weapon slot. Favor effects that keep triggering during a boss fight.
Tome priorities
- Thorns Tome: the most direct repeatable retaliation source.
- Armor Tome: reduces the cost of taking contact hits.
- Regen Tome: restores health between heavy hits.
- Shield Tome: provides another defensive layer for bosses.
- Attraction Tome: keeps XP collection reliable while you kite.
Step-by-Step Pacifist Strategy
- Activate Pacifist. Open Forest Tier 1 Challenges, select Pacifist, and confirm the no-weapons restriction before launching the run.
- Choose Amog or Sir Oofie. Amog has faster chain-clear potential; Sir Oofie offers the safest defensive foundation.
- Find damage immediately. Break pots, open early rewards and look for Thorns or a damaging Item. Resetting a run with no damage engine is faster than trying to scale nothing.
- Build around the source you found. Poison favors Amog; contact retaliation favors Armor, Regen, Shield and Sir Oofie.
- Preserve health before bosses. Kite normal enemies, collect XP and avoid spending all your sustain just to speed up trash clears.
- Keep boss damage reliable. Retaliate only against safe attacks, maintain poison or periodic Item effects, and dodge telegraphed heavy hits.
- Defeat every boss. Do not leave the run after one boss dies; the listed objective is to kill all required bosses.
Why Pacifist Runs Fail
| Problem | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| No early kills | No legal damage source | Prioritize Thorns or a damaging Item; reset a dead start. |
| Thorns kills you | Retaliation without sustain | Add Armor, Regen and Shield before intentionally taking hits. |
| Amog does not chain | Nothing poisoned or killed the first enemy | Secure a poison/damage Item first; Plague needs a trigger. |
| Boss takes too long | Only weak pack-clear effects | Add repeatable single-target Item damage and stop overinvesting in utility. |
| Challenge did not complete | Wrong challenge, unfinished boss objective or old game build | Confirm Pacifist is active, kill all bosses and update the game. |
The official December 15, 2025 fixes addressed Pacifist and Minimalist challenges not working. If an old installation still fails to register completion, update and verify the game files before changing your build.
Pacifist FAQ
Can Items deal damage in the Pacifist Challenge?
Yes. The restriction is no weapons, not no damage. Damage from Items, Tomes and character passives is allowed.
Does Thorns Tome work in Pacifist?
Yes. It is a Tome, so it remains available. Pair it with Armor, Regen or Shield rather than taking repeated hits with no sustain.
What is the best character for Pacifist?
Amog is the best offensive option when a poison Item starts Plague chains. Sir Oofie is the safer option for a defensive Thorns build.
Can I use Aura in the Pacifist Challenge?
No. Aura is a weapon, and Pacifist disables weapons. Passive area damage from an Item or character effect is different.
What do you get for completing Pacifist?
Pacifist has a 2x Silver Gain multiplier while active. Like other completed challenges, it also contributes the permanent +1% Silver Gain completion bonus.
